Job Description
We are looking for experienced semi-truck drivers to join our team for a causal Shunter/Forklift Operator role. It is on-call, part time position for some afternoon and evening hours Monday to Friday, and some Saturdays. Class 1 license preferred but not required as the primary responsibility for a position is to move 50” semi-trailers in the yard to prepare them for loading. This position is also accountable for forklift duties when Shunter is not needed.
Wage: $23.33/hour
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all customer orders are processed in a timely and efficient manner by placing or removing trailers to and from designated areas
- Open and close trailer doors as required, create and update a daily yard check and shunt log; attach trailer seals as needed
- Demonstrate good judgment when checking trailers and maintaining the shunt truck
- Ensure that the rules of the yard are followed at all times
- Perform the receiving and shipment duties of raw materials, finished products, packaging products, and ingredients
- Ensure that the quantities correspond to the receipt/shipment slip
- Enter products in the EXA system using both data entry and scanning guns
- Weigh, cool and place products where appropriate
- Rotate products (FIFO) according to storage standards
- Receive the order forms and take note of the orders to be prepared during the day
- Pick orders according to the products indicated on the order form, which requires using a pallet truck or a forklift; safe and secure loading and unloading of trucks
- Safe operation, inspection, and daily maintenance of the forklift, survey equipment, and the shunter truck
- Respect occupational health and safety policies and procedures and good manufacturing practices (HACCP and GMP)
- Perform other related duties as required
