Job Description
The Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) is primarily responsible for packing raw baby leaf lettuce with some time spent troubleshooting issues, maintaining line efficiency, minimizing downtime, effective changeovers between products, and assisting with staff training and assignment. The PMO works hands-on, supporting the Line Lead and Production Labourers in the safe and efficient operation of the packaging of raw baby leaf lettuce and the operation of the box line and its connectivity to the packaging line.
Scedules available:
Morning: 06:00 am to 12:30pm
Afternoon: 12:00 pm to 08:30 pm
Wage: $19.48/hour
Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the initial washing, sorting and packing of raw baby leaf lettuce
- Production line setup, visual inspection of equipment, production start-up, product changeovers, record keeping, IPCs
- Verification of labels, weights then metal detector within 2 (two) minutes of product run
- Verification of packaged product at start of run and all changes to be presented to Line Leader
- Set the operating parameters of packaging equipment in accordance with standard operating practices
- Raise issues, problems and/or production anomalies and participate in the resolution with the Line Leader
- Communicate any unresolved situations to the Line leader
- Carry out the minimum maintenance according to the requested frequency Eg: Labeller, Sonic sealer, box printer and box sealer
- Box (and bowl) line setup, visual inspection of equipment, coordinating with production start-up, product changeovers, record keeping, IPCs
- Set the operating parameters of box line equipment in accordance with standard operating practices
- Comply with OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) policies and procedures, good manufacturing practices (PGMs) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
- Work safely and maintain a clean work environment
- Respect the established dress code and wear mandatory protective equipment
- Meet delivery deadlines, quality expectations, manufacturing standards, productivity targets and accurately record all required information during and at the end of the shift (legibly)
- Participate in providing training to staff in relation to the assigned tasks and co-leadership of all staff on the line
- Encourage the team effort
- Communicate with line leader on order progress
- Provide line relief support when needed
