Vegpro International Inc. is the largest grower-packer of baby lettuces and vegetables in Canada. Vegpro proudly cultivates its own land, thus controlling the quality of its products from seed to plate. It also has four packing centers located in the heart of its fields: two in Sherrington, QC; one in Coldstream, British Columbia; and one in Belle-Glade, Florida.

The main location of the position to be filled is located less than 10 minutes drive from Vernon, southeast on Highway 6 towards Lavington.

The Role

The primary duty of the Team Lead is to ensure product and supplies are received for production and that finished goods are retrieved from production, stored, and loaded for outbound shipments accurately and on time. Other responsibilities include the organizing the activities of the Forklift Operators.

Scedule: Monday to Friday; 06:00 am to 02:30 pm

Wage: $25.98/hour

Main Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the coordination of all inbound and outbound shipments ensuring that they adhere to company guidelines
  • Ensure all shipments are accurate as to quantity, product, and location destination
  • Communicates with the Manager regarding timing of shipment and any issues regarding paperwork
  • Assist Forklift Operators in performing job responsibilities correctly and safely, with a focus on accuracy
  • Ensure accurate counting and receiving of incoming products by the team
  • Ensure accurate placement of products in our inventory system with the use of Scanners
  • Demonstrate leadership through effective teamwork
  • Work alongside and with the team, providing guidance as needed to ensure maximum productivity
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness in the shipping and receiving areas
  • Follow all Food Safety, product quality and Health and Safety Guidelines
  • Organize, prepare and complete all documents required for shipping and receiving as required

Knowledge and skills sought

  • – A minimum of 2-3 years in Shipping and Receiving, preferably in manufacturing environment
  • – Forklift Operator experience
  • – Forklift Operator ticket or ability to pass the forklift operation test
  • – Ability to lift loads up to 40 lb
  • – Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure
  • – Ability to work in a cool and humid facility (4 C) and outdoors (summer and winter)
  • – Experience in food production and knowledge of HACCP standards is an asset
